Jennifer Cox, LCSW

Jennifer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experience working with diverse client systems. Before transitioning to private practice work, Jennifer worked in the child welfare system for 8 years and she continues to work with families impacted by abuse and neglect. Jennifer has experience working with children, youth, teens, emerging adults, adults, and families.

Some of Jennifer’s clinical interests include teen and emerging adult issues, examining family of origin issues, processing trauma experiences, improving self-esteem, and working through life’s transitions. Jennifer’s therapy style is integrative, reflective, and tailored to meet the needs of her clients. Jennifer values the relationship between therapist and client and believes a strong therapeutic relationship is a major catalyst for change. Jennifer uses compassion, humor, and genuineness in session and integrates all three throughout the course of treatment with clients to collaborate on goals, encourage self-examination and reflection, cope with life’s stressors, and make lasting change.

Jennifer received her Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Jennifer continues to work with families impacted by Illinois Department of Children and Family Services while practicing psychotherapy privately. Jennifer is committed to social justice, anti-racism, affirming queer identities, and feminism for all.
